Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders: Mark Harris, Jr., a 26-year-old cancer patient, was all smiles as the
Dallas cheerleaders greeted him.
Vistacare, the hospice organization caring for Harris, helped grant his wish. The organization said his prognosis is day-to-day.
"It hurts a lot, but at first, you just let it go because I know that God is with me, I'm not worried," Harris said.
His family has known for months about the prognosis.
"Some days are funny, some days are a lot of fun and laughter, some days are very sad, some are very heart wrenching," his father, Mark Harris Sr., said.
The day his wish was granted was one of the good days as he was finally able to meet the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders.
He also met the Dallas Maverick Dancers on the same day.
Harris said as he continues to cherish each moment with his family he has one last wish.
"My wish is that I can just go to heaven and look down and see my family succeed," Harris said.
Jessica Simpson to try our for Dallas Cowboy CheerleadersWith auditions for the 2008-2009 season around the corner, information has leaked that the Cowboy Cheerleaders squad received an application from former singer and television star Jessica Simpson.
Papa Joe Simpson released the following statement immediately after the rumors began flying: “You have to admit, Jess has the perfect body for it. Long, lean legs and a giant rack. Plus her dance background has made her very flexible, which I know because I monitor all her workouts from a closed-circuit video camera.”
With
Jessica Simpson’s career almost kaput, there had been speculation that her manager-father was trying to find a new means of employment. Jessica has created her own shoe and handbag line, hair weave, and has been a spokeswoman for Chicken of the Sea tuna and Proactiv acne cleansers. None of these business ventures have succeeded long-term, leaving room for Jessica Simpson’s career to slowly collapse into itself like a dying star.
“I thought it was a joke at first,” said a DCC choreographer who preferred to remain nameless. “The application just had her name and phone number, and nothing else. And the handwriting was like chicken scratch. But we called and sure enough, Jessica answered the phone and wanted to know when the first rehearsal was. We told her she needed to come to the dance audition, and she pouted for a bit but then said OK. We’re all really excited to have her come down and show us what she’s got.”
Added another DCC insider, “We like to help fellow Texans so we’re willing to do Jessica the favor of auditioning for the squad. It’s not like we need her to boost our image or anything. Dallas Cheerleaders have a 80% chance of marrying rich, so we do just fine on our own, thank you.”
Asked whether this was just a cheap ploy to get Jessica back with ex-beau and Dallas Cowboys player Tony Romo, Papa Joe Simpson said: “that’s silly. If we were just trying to get them back together we’d have Jessica try out for the football team, which we’re only going to do if she doesn’t make the Cheerleaders.”
