City of Helotes, Texas
Helotes is an incorporated city northwest of San Antonio known to be "where the Hill Country begins." The community is nestled in the scenic hills and is a quiet, yet fun, family-oriented suburb.
To preserve the city's historic charm, several landmark limestone buildings have been restored in the Old Town Helotes business district. Helotes is known for its annual festival Cornyval, which is held each May.

Helotes Texas a brief but informative history
Helotes was settled in the mid-1850's by Mexicans who intermarried with the Apache Indians in the area. A man named Chaca is rumored to be the first person to build a home and cultivate a cornfield in Helotes, which in Spanish means "green roasting ear of corn."
By 1885 the community had a postoffice, hotel, school, general store, and a population of fifty. By 1914, Helotes' population grew to over 700, but between 1930 and 1945 it fell to about 100. Since the 1960's the city has grown steadily. In the 2000 census, the population was 4,285 and has since grown to an estimated 6,187 in 2005
