Kennesaw

 Kennesaw was a small town incorporated in  the 1830's. During the American Civil War, Kennesaw was the site of major fighting in the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain, part of the larger Battle of Atlanta.
Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park contains much of the historic areas, the area is littered vith artifacts. Kennesaw mountain is included in the park, its summit is the highest peak in the Atlanta metro area at 1808 feet. The Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History is located in Kennesaw. On display is "The General", the locomotive that played the key role in the Great Locomotive Chase.

Kennesaw Georgia is a city in Cobb County Georgia. and a suburb of Atlanta.The city has a population nearing 32,000 residents. The city is smaller in size as its only 8.5 square miles. The city is fairly prosperous with only 4.5% of the population under the poverty level. Kennesaw's original  name was Big Shanty.The city has a large 117 acre planed town park  called        Legacy Park. 85% of the elementery school children live in the housing park. Kennesaw has the nickname Gun Town U.S.A. due to a city ordinance passed in 1982 that requires every head of household to maintain a firearm with ammunition. In 1983 amendments were made to disallow residents who objected, convicted felons etc. Reports have shown the crime rate in Kennesaw has dropped 89% since the law was passed. Kennesaw is home to Kennesaw State University the third largest College in Georgia. Kennesaw is a major retail hub in the area.
