Lerum municipality is a Swedish municipality in Västra Götaland County, in western Sweden, situated just east of Gothenburg. Its seat is located in Lerum (pop. 15,000).

Lerum is a municipality characterised by beautiful countryside with many lakes, very lively cultural and club activities, a bustling centre with shops and service, good communications to the big city and closeness to Landvetter International Airport.

There is a long tradition of twin town work among Swedish municipalities. Nordic cooperation, cultural and school exchange, as also the idea of peace, have historically been the dominating themes for twin town work.
 
Contacts over the years have above all comprised exchanges between the schools in Lerum, Vihanti in Finland, Nibe in Denmark and Baldone in Latvia.
