Message from the Mayor of Pittsburgh |
 |
Sid the Kid is the only hockey player on the list, coming in at No. 6.
Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby has been named one of the Top 10 athletes in the world, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Sidney Crosby, 20, who led the Pens to the Stanley Cup finals this year, was tied for the most points out of any player in the playoffs with 27.
The Journal noted that he combines stamina, power and the coordination to shoot the puck while getting clobbered.

Pittsburgh is the second largest city in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It is the county seat of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. It is the economic, cultural, academic, transportational, and service hub of the Pittsburgh Metro Area and the PITTSBURGH Tri-State. Built on the land between the confluence of the Allegheny, Ohio and Monongahela rivers and the surrounding hills, Pittsburgh features a skyline of skyscrapers and dozens of bridges.

   Sidney Crosby
Sidney Patrick Crosby is a Canadian professional ice hockey player and captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League (NHL). Nicknamed "The Next one", he was One of the most highly regarded draft picks in hockey history, leading many to refer to the 2005 Draft Lottery as the "Sidney Crosby Sweepstakes."
In his first season, he finished sixth in scoring with 102 points (39 goals, 63 assists). By his second season, he led the NHL with 120 points (36 goals, 84 assists) to capture the Art Ross Trophy, becoming the youngest player and the only teenager to win a scoring title in any major North American sports league. That same season, Crosby won the Hart Memorial Trophy as the most valuable player as determined by the Professional hockey Writers Association, and the Lester B.
