Even though it is the county seat, thus containing most of the local government offices, it actually is one of the smaller cities in the area and is relatively weak in economic strength compared other local municipalities. As growth from Houston appears to be spreading past Sugar Land, this could change in the not-too-distant future—given the currenttrends in the RICHMOND–Rosenberg area.
