Founded in 1865 as Kentucky Agricultural and Mechanical College. The school was renamed the University of Kentucky in 1916. The official nickname for the school's sports teams is the Wildcats. The school colors are White and Blue. UK's campus covers 716 acres and has over 26,000 students. There are over 200 majors to choose from. The school is also working to become one of the top-20 research universities in the nation.
