Axe falls at last on Southsea show.

THE Portsmouth and Southsea Show has been scrapped.
City bosses have finally bitten the bullet and put the failing show out of its misery.
The show, which has been running for around 80 years, has been axed and will be replaced next year by a floral and country show, while Portsmouth City Council makes a decision on what should replace it.
This year's event, which was marred by bad weather, made a loss of [pounds sterling]80,000 and the council believes the event, which includes trade stalls and other attractions, could lose between [pounds sterling]100,000 and [pounds sterling]120,000 next year because of falling numbers.
