Price of Barney's claims falls sharply on Tuesday; investors want more information.

Wall Street investors are waiting to obtain more details about privately held Barney's Inc before bidding on the bankrupt specialty retailer's vendors' claims. Consequently, the asking price for the claims has steadily dropped to around 60 cents on the dollar. Industry analysts say that a disagreement between Barney's management and Isetan Co Ltd, a Tokyo, Japan-based retailer and joint-venture partner that has invested significantly in Barney's over the past several years, will continue to erode the asking price. Meanwhile, Barney's is asking the bankruptcy court to approve use of an interim debtor-in-possession agreement to pay for spring shipments.
