Beef producers have expanded marketing efforts and spending because of an increasing supply of beef nationwide.
The market also has an oversupply of pork and chicken, said Heather Buckmaster, executive director of the Oklahoma Beef Council.
The national marketing group added $2 million to the budget for marketing and advertising this summer because of the oversupply, Buckmaster said.
Expanded beef marketing efforts include increased spending during the summer grilling season, she said.
In Oklahoma, we have a summer program to keep beef at the top of the mind when people are grilling, Buckmaster said.
