Hull's clubgoers from a few decades back may recognise today's
picture without being told it shows Alec Johnston.
It has been sent to us by Ken Bentham, of Queensmead, Aldbrough,
who in turn received it from a friend in Australia, Bernard Waslin.
Alec was Bernard's brother-in-law, says Ken, and he goes on:
"Alec played in the clubs from about the 1960s onwards.
"I believe this photo was taken in a small club in Jarratt Street
in-between the old Clowes Church and the Hull Brewery Co.
"Alec Johnston lived in Charles Street at the home of his mother-
in-law, Mrs Waslin, who ran a book shop in Charles Street for more
than 20 years.
