Most Expensive Phones
Ancort Crypto Smartphone
Cost: $1.3 million
Russian data-protection firm Ancort boasts the world's most extravagant handset. Designed by Austrian jeweler Peter Aloisson, it sports a platinum casing, a solid gold keypad, and 25-carat cut diamonds. Costing a staggering $1.3 million, the phone isn't just bling-it comes with one of the world's most sophisticated voice and data encryption systems.
GoldVish Le Million
Cost: $1 million
Swiss luxury phone maker GoldVish spared no expense on this limited-edition handset, of which only 100 models were made. Encrusted with 120 carats' worth of diamonds, the phone has everything a multimillionaire would need: MP3 player, digital camera, as well as a secret compartment to stash any precious items.
GoldVish Illusion
Cost: $171,000
If Le Million is too pricey, why not consider the Illusion? It comes in a casing made of platinum; or of yellow, white, or rose 18-karat gold, with a diamond inlay. Under its glittery exterior, however, the handset is all business: Standard features include a 2-gigabit memory, MP3 player, and FM stereo.
Amosu iPhone Diamond
Cost: $40,000
Looking to outdo your iPhone-owning friends? British-based custom phone manufacturer Amosu has exactly what you need: a diamond-encrusted iPhone that can be modified to include white, black, or pink sapphires. It isn't cheap, but definitely adds pizzazz to Apple's first foray into mobile phones.
Amosu Motorola KRZR
Cost: $50,000
If an iPhone isn't your style, Amosu also offers a customized Motorola (MOT) KRZR K1 that boasts 336 diamonds and an 18-karat gold casing. That comes on top of Motorola's standard 2-megapixel camera and MP3 player.

Vertu Signature Diamonds
Cost: $62,500
Along with an 18-karat gold keypad, this phone is set with white diamonds and pink sapphires (385 gems in all), and weighs in at just over 200 grams, or about 7 ounces. It also has more ordinary features such as Internet browsing and quad-band capability, so you can keep in touch wherever you are in the world.

Vertu Ascent Ti
Cost: $7,200
It may not glitter on the outside, but this handset could be just the thing for a security-minded tycoon. It comes with a data-storage system called Fortress that automatically backs up all the information in a secure server at Vertu's headquarters. Customers can then access the data through the company's Web site, and can easily retrieve it if the handset is lost or stolen.
Nokia 8800 Sapphire Arte
Cost: $1,500
A lower-priced cousin of the Vertu luxury brand, Nokia's 8800 Sapphire Arte includes a leather casing and a sapphire in its keypad. It also has a handy silencing gadget that mutes incoming calls when the handset is turned screen-side down.

LG Prada
Cost: $860
It's not often that Prada is considered a low-cost brand. But compared with some other superluxury models, the LG Prada handset seems like a bargain. Featuring a touch screen, MP3 player, and a 2-megapixel camera, it could give Apple's iPhone a run for its money.
Meet the T-mobile G1
Uh, c'mon guys -- this is a little ridiculous. Now typically, you want to keep this sort of thing under wraps until the day of your event, but it seems like the cats and kittens at T- mobile can't contain themselves. Yes, you're looking at the first official product shot of the G1 Android phone ever. enjoy it. Update: TmoNews has just uncovered new specs and info on the phone. Here's what they've got so far: the phone is 4.6 x 2.16 x 0.63 inches, weighs 5.6 ounces, features a 480 x 320 HVGA display, sports 3G (obviously), GPS, has a 3.1-megapixel camera, supports up to 8GB of memory (though no format is mentioned), and will feature 5 hours of talktime with 130 hours of standby. Strangely, the phone won't do video capture (what?), won't have stereo Bluetooth, will require a Gmail account, and won't be sold at stores outside of a 2-5 mile radius of T- mobile's 3G coverage areas. That last bit sounds a little odd to us, but we're guessing a lot of the functionality of this device will be shot in non-3G regions.
